The aim of the game is to have the most successful tribe by exploring new lands, building huts and gathering resources. With the invention of new tools and techniques like ship building or pottery the expansion of the player’s tribe can even be accelerated.

In The River, you and the other mayoral players each struggle to create the best pioneer settlement by developing land along a river bed in your town, collecting resources from the area, and constructing buildings. As you explore and build up the untouched frontier, your workers will settle down along the way, meaning that your other workers will shoulder more of the burden to do what you want to do, which includes making nicely organized landscapes to please the aestheticians in town.

A special team of archaeologists, from all over the world, ventured to the site to solve its puzzle, allowing them inside. Therein, a massive man-made cavern, stretching for what seemed to be a mile straight down, could be seen. But just as the team decides to leave, the door slams shut, sand slowly filling up from the ground, and a revelation of new puzzles that must be solved. Will they do it in time?

One player is the ghost and the others the ghost chasers. The chasers try to capture the ghost and the ghost tries to elude capture in this exciting game. The chasers can cooperate, but only one can win by capturing the ghost. If the ghost eludes capture until the end of the game, he wins!
